Cairo – Akram Ali

Egypt’s Assistant Minister of the Interior for Prison Authority Mohamed Ibrahim announced his department is considering the transfer of former President Hosni Mubarak to a military hospital due to deteriorations in his health. Ibrahim told Arabstoday that President Mubarak’s family had submitted the transfer request to move him to a military hospital to undergo CT scans. Doctors fear Mubarak could suffer internal bleeding after a recent fall. Meanwhile Egypt’s Administrative Court delayed the lawsuit demanding the release of the former President until January 29 to consider medical documents relating to Mubarak’s health. Lawyers of the ousted leader requested a medical investigation. Lawyer Fareed el-Deeb said in a phone call with a satellite channel that Mubarak’s health had deteriorated in recent weeks. Mubarak reportedly told him he would die soon. Dozens of Mubarak supporters also attended the court session, chanting: “Judges, you should not fear anyone except God.”
