Egyptian security forces in Rafah have continued their fight against illegal smuggling to Gaza, by closing down a number of tunnels. Sources stated that security agents received information on Sunday relating to the building of a 300 metre tunnel. After coordination with the Office of Military Intelligence, border guards and the Armed Forces, moved to arrest those accused of the orchestrating the smuggling. The sources also confirmed that a tunnel used for smuggling cars had been destroyed. Adding that smugglers were currently doing the preparation work, laying concrete to support the tunnel foundations. This comes in light of the intensive efforts made by border guards to secure borders of the state against any acts that may undermine Egyptian security.
