Egyptian minister of culture Dr Mohammed Saber Arab announced his "willingness and intention to leave his post." The minister of culture on his social network page, Facebook said: "During this unfortunate time, I express my pain and deep grief over what the cultural arena is witnessing. This does not serve the interests of Egypt in any way." Arab added: "We were looking forward to the appropriate limit of reconciliation, from the constitutional declaration through to accelerating the issue of the constitution and of course, ending the fighting between people of one nation." Arab added that "continuing to work as a minister of culture is psychologically and neurologically exhausting in light of the escalated political situation, especially without a decisive intervention that could achieve the supreme interest of the country." He went on to explain that he is determined to leave at any moment, but is staying due to his devotion to protect the ministry of culture during this difficult time.
