Cairo - Akram Ali

Egypt’s administrative court will on Saturday look into the appeal submitted by former President Hosni Mubarak, former Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif and former Interior Minister Habib el-Adly regarding payment of 540 million EGP as compensation for cutting communication during the January 25 Revolution. The three were issued to make the payment following economic problems resulting from their actions. The case was filed by lawyer Mohamed Abdelaal. According to the judicial ruling, Mubarak is due to pay 200 million EGP, Adly 300 million EGP, while the former prime minister will pay 40 million EGP. The court stated that the "deliberate" decision to cut communication and internet "undermined the Egyptian revolution" and aimed to "protect Egypt’s former ruling regime and its government" which "exercised political corruption."
