
An Egyptian political party has suspended the membership of two of its senior members after they accepted ministerial positions in Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi's new government. In a statement, al-Wafd Party confirmed that the membership of secretary-general Monir Fakhri Abdel Nour and senior official Taher Abu Zaid had been frozen after they were sworn-in on Tuesday. Mounir Fakhry Abdel-Nour was minister of industry and foreign trade, with Taher Abu Zaid taking the minister of sports portfolio.
