Cairo - Arab Today

The Egyptian prime minister has proposed legally dissolving the Muslim Brotherhood following days of deadly clashes violence, as supporters of ousted president Mohammed Morsi – a member of the Muslim Brotherhood – planned fresh protests. Egyptian Prime Minister Hazem el-Beblawi on Saturday proposed outlawing the Muslim Brotherhood following days of violent demonstrations in which hundreds of people were killed. A government spokesman said the plan to legally dissolve the Brotherhood was being “studied” by the authorities. The announcement that the interim authorities are looking at banning the organisation comes as hundreds of Morsi supporters were evacuated from al-Fata mosque in Cairo on Saturday morning after barricading themselves inside overnight. Scores have been killed in Egypt since a brutal crackdown Wednesday by security forces on massive sit-ins in support of Morsi.
