Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry
Cairo - Egypt Today

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said Tuesday that coordination between Cairo and Paris was essential to achieve stability in Libya.
In an interview with France 24, Shoukry welcomed the results of the meeting between the Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, and the Commander of the Libyan National Army, General Khalifa Haftar, held in La Celle-Saint-Cloud, France.
The top diplomat said the meeting was a result of efforts exerted by the French government as part of contacts and dialogue between Libyan rivals in which Cairo also took part.
The minister reiterated importance of coordination between the two countries, saying Egypt has been affected by terrorism that crosses into the country through long border lines.
Asked about the danger that Egypt may face when members of the Daesh group move from Syria and Iraq to Libya, Shoukry said Egypt sees success stories in Syria and Iraq and follows up the situation to contain imminent danger standing along its western borders with Libya.
Cairo eyes movement of Daesh members into Libya, he said, adding they see safe shelter in the Libyan vast deserts.
Egypt moves independently to secure borders and that matter takes great deal of money and efforts, he added.
In the same context, he made it clear that intelligence agencies in Egypt and some European partners were now aware of more details that link Qatar to key terrorist organizations in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya.
He said Egypt takes the necessary steps to maintain its national security and to fulfill its commitments to the world security and stability.
To that end, he urged the international community to adopt a clear counter-terrorism strategy.
With regard to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Shoukry said Egypt endeavors to secure rights of the Palestinian people.
He added the two-state solution was the only way and more efforts should be exerted to achieve that goal. Also, he warned against unilateral actions that might be taken to fuel conflict.
