Egypt distributes first batch

The Egyptian Embassy in Juba distributed the first batch of humanitarian aid to Juba which was carried through an Egyptian airlift to South Sudan, said acting Charge d'Affaires at the embassy Mahmoud Bayoumy on Monday.
The aid delivery came in cooperation with the South Sudanese Ministry of Health and Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs
The diplomat pointed out that humanitarian aid comes upon the directives of Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El Sisi. The aid included food, medical and formula supplies.
The airlift consists of ten planes.
The aid reflects Egypt’s commitment towards helping South Sudan in all sectors and affirms deep bilateral ties binding the two brotherly countries and their people, Bayoumy added.
For his side, South Sudanese Minister of Health Riek Gai Kok voiced thanks and appreciation for the Egyptian government and President Sisi for delivering aid in response to a plea by South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit to the international community to support his country against the threat of famine, pointing out that Egypt had been backing South Sudan over the history.
