Egyptian security services managed to foil an infiltration attempt by two Ethiopians on Friday, as they attempted to cross into Israel. The two men, a 27-year-old and an 18-year-old, were stopped by security forces on the border line after they had crossed the barbed wire. The two were arrested and taken to Rafah central hospital for a medical examination. After interrogating the men, security discovered they had paid $4,000 to a gang of smugglers to cross from Rafah into Taba - the location of Egypt's busiest border crossing with neighbouring Israel. The admitted they tried to get into Israel seeking job opportunities.
