Khartoum – Abedalgoum Ashmeag

The Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD) summit has ended in the Chadian capital of N’Djamena, calling on Sudan to address its differences with its southern neighbour. A closing statement also praised the Sudanese government's efforts to find a solution to the ongoing Darfur crisis. According to official Sudanese radio, the statement stressed the need to stabilise security conditions in Mali, Somalia, and Guinea, and called on member states to provide Mali with more humanitarian support. Khartoum looks set to host regular CEN-SAD meetings with foreign ministers from member states midway through 2013. The next full-scale summit will take place in Morocco at a date yet to be confirmed, presidential sources revealed.
