Belarus Ambassador to Egypt Ambassador Sergei Rachkov stressed his country's support for Egypt's anti-terror and extremism efforts, praising progress achieved at the political and economic levels.
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko's visit to Egypt in January and his talks with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi gave impetus to bilateral relations, ambassador Rachkov said on Thursday while delivering a speech during a celebration marking Belarus national day.
A road map on cooperation between Egypt and Belarus in 2017-2018 has been outlined, Rachkov said, adding that trade exchange has been doubled twice in the first quarter of the current year, compared with the same period in the past year.
The envoy added that both sides have started implementing joint projects in the fields of manufacturing diesel engines, trucks, cranes, harvesting, dairy production, greenhouses and sewage treatment.
He went on to say that Egypt and Belarus have adopted steps aimed at boosting cooperation in the technological, scientific and military domains.
As many as 250,000 Belarus tourists visited Egypt between 2014 and 2016, the ambassador noted.
