Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, Muhammad Badie, has claimed that he did not insult the country's military leaders during his weekly statement issued on Thursday. In his initial article, Badie described the people of Egypt as the "best soldiers" who need good leadership, before adding that "these soldiers have only been given corrupt leaders to follow." In a new statement, he said that the media had interpreted his words in the wrong way and took the word "soldiers" literally, not metaphorically. He added that the leaders he is referring to are political and not military. He accused the media of distorting his words to serve their own interests, adding he is certain that the Egyptian people and the army would not trust their lies. He expressed his appreciation for the historic role that Egypt’s military has played to protect the Egyptian people and their revolution. After his statement on Thursday, an Egyptian lawyer submitted a complaint to the military prosecution against the spiritual leader of the ruling group.
