Authorities foil prison escape in Lebanon

Security officials have foiled an attempted escape by inmates at Lebanon’s largest detention facility, Roumieh Prison. Sources said that authorities found four 17-metre ropes dangling from a tower at the jail, in a plot by "Islamist prisoners." They added that police also discovered a tunnel which the prisoners had dug for their escape. Lebanese government commissioner, Adjutant Dani al-Zoobi has launched an investigation into the incident.
