Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said on Friday any attack on tourists or residents is a heinous crime and betrayal of nation which deserves the toughest penalty.
The minister made the remarks in reaction to a knife attack in Hurghada, which left two tourists dead and four others wounded.
"The tourists and residents should have full protection and any attack on any of them verbally or physically runs counter to heavenly religions and international laws," Gomaa said in a statement.
