Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) Hanan Ashrawi has stated that Israel should commit to the rules of the international law and resolutions of the UN to push forward the coming round of negotiations. She stressed that Israelis should "suspend their violations" including settlement activities. Ashrawi added: "Israel is a permanent state of oppression and injustice. It should end its violations on the basis of the two-state solution to pave way for establishing the Palestinian State on 1967 borders." She praised the position adopted by the EU to serve the peace process. Ashrawi's statement came during her meeting with a number of European officials.
