Casablanca – Yousra Mostafa

Sources confirmed to Arabstoday that detainee Abdul Samad Btar was transferred from Salé 2 prison to the central prison in Safi due to his deteriorating health condition.  He was taken directly to Mohammed V Hospital in Safi while he remains in coma, in the Intensive Care Unit. A number of security services rushed to the hospital after the arrival of detainee Btar, who was implicated in the Argana Explosion. According to the same source, Moroccan Human Rights Association and Dignity of Human Rights Forum held a meeting on June 27 in Salé 2 prison.  The gathering was attended by the detainees, representatives of the General Commission of the prison administration, the delegate-general’s counselor for the prison administration and the Regional Director and Director of the local prison of Salé 2. The participants discussed the issue of Abdul Samad Btar's open hunger strike in order to find a solution and guarantee the settlement of his rights inside the prison and also to protect his right to live and his physical and psychological safety.
