Gaza received a visit from an official Tunisian delegation headed by the Tunisian Foreign Minister Rafiq Abdul Salam. In a press conference, Abdul Salam addressed the Palestinian people: “Israel should realise that they do not have a free hand in the Middle East anymore. The Israeli state has to abide by international law.” The Tunisian Foreign Minister said that it was not acceptable for a state like Israel in the 21st century to act in such ways towards the Palestinian people. He added: “Tunisia will support the Palestinian people. We will urge the Arab League to take a brave action and to act as a united front.” Abdul Salam urged Tel Aviv to stop the war against the Palestinians after he visited the al-Shifa hospital in central Gaza, where he saw and met many injured children and women. “No civilised nation would approve the destruction of schools, public and private institution,” Adbul Salam said. A Tunisian government spokesman, the Minister of Human Rights Samir Dilo and the Director of the Presidential Palace were part of the delegation who visited Gaza on Friday.
