
The rail traffic between Cairo and Alexandria resumed on Saturday after the railroad was cleared from the wreckage of the Friday train collision that left 41 dead and 132 injured, the Ministry of Transportation said.
The ministry's spokesman Mohammed Ezz said on Saturday tha the traffic would go on a single line in both directions until a second track that was damaged in the accident is repaired.
On Friday afternoon in Alexandria, a train travelling from Cairo to Alexandria crashed into the rear of another train en route to Alexandria from Port Said.
The second train was stationary at Khorshid Station when the crash occurred.
