Egypt's Minister of Defence and Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Fatah al-Sisi has paid tribute to the country's armed forces on the anniversary of the 10th of Ramadan 1973 war with Israel. Speaking to Arab Today, al-Sisi described the 10th of Ramadan as an important day in Egyptian military history, adding it showed the army's stubbornness and the public's support for the national army. The military general said he had complete faith in the army's ability to protect Egypt’s national security and the sovereignty of its territories. Earlier, Egypt's military called on protesters planning to demonstrate on Friday to remain peaceful, warning against the use of violence. In a statement military spokesman Ahmed Ali said on Thursday, "The armed forces warn not to deviate from peaceful means of expression or resort to violence or vandalism against military facilities...or disrupt public interests." "Whoever does not abide by peacefulness is only exposing his life to danger and will be dealt with according to the law," the statement added. Opponents and supporters of Egypt's ousted president Mohammed Morsi are planning nationwide protests on Friday.
