The nine air corridors agreed by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain to allow Qatari planes to use in emergencies aims at supporting air safety and navigation, Minister of Civil Aviation Sherif Fathy said Sunday.
Severing the ties with Qatar required operating such nine corridors under the supervision of ICAO.
The nine corridors have been identified including one in international air space over the Mediterranean Sea that will be monitored by the Egyptian authorities.
International aviation organizations have been informed that these corridors will be open from Aug. 1.
Fathy said he held several meetings with President of the ICAO Council Benard Aliu during his visit to Canada to prepare for the international ministerial conference for aviation safety, due to be held in Sharm el Sheikh on August 22-24.
