Cairo - Akram Ali

The funeral procession for journalist Husseini Abu Dief snaked from Tahrir Square to Omar Makram mosque on Wednesday. The Qasr Al-Aini hospital announced his death from a shot in the brain after clashes at the Federal Palace. With the approval of his family, journalists, media activists and politicians wandered Tahrir Square carrying his body. A number of senior journalists and newspaper editors, including Adel Hammouda, editor of Al-Fajr, participated in the funeral march.  The mourners chanted slogans against the Muslim Brotherhood, who the family of Abu Dief has accused of his death. Abu Dief, a journalist at Al-Fajr newspaper, was shot in the head while covering the events that took place in front of the Federal Palace in the early hours of last Thursday morning, and Qasr al-Aini hospital announced his death on Wednesday.
