Riyadh - Saeed Al-Ghamdi

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Yemen Abdulmalik Al-Makhlafi announced that, the international envoy to Yemen Ismail Wuld El Sheikh Ahmed will start his tour on Monday. This tour came to reactivate peace talks and it will begin with meeting the legitimate government in Riyadh and moves to Muscat to meet a Houthi delegation.

Al-Makhlafi told “Al Hayat” newspaper that this tour will not achieve its goals of peace amid the militias’ refusal of international efforts. He said that, the details of this tour’s negotiations will be decided soon based on the results of Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, and the resolutions of the Security Council, foremost of which is resolution 2216.

“Unfortunately, I’m not very optimistic about this tour and its goals” Al-Makhlafi said confirming that, the problem isn’t the international envoy or the legitimate government, but in the non-response of the militias to the means of peace, which the government calls for.

He added that, Wuld El Sheikh exerted great effort to meet the Houthis in Sana’a but they moved the meeting to Muscat, and all indicators show that, this tour will not reach its goal.
