The Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas condemned the attack which killed 16 Egyptian borders security guards in Sinai, considering it a "Crime" carried out by an extremist group. The Palestinian presidency spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh released a statement reading "president Abbas and Palestinian leaders condemn and express disgust at this massacre emphasizing that they are very careful about Egyptian security and safety, respecting Egyptians and Egyptian sovereignty and  we are supporting of our Egyptian brothers and military". He followed "the crime against the Egyptian military, despite its enormity will not affect the strong relation between Palestinians and Egyptians and between leaders in both countries. It will not affect the Egyptian great national role in have a permanent historical commitment in supporting the Palestinian cause and struggling Palestinians trying to gain their national rights". Hamas has announced full alert and placed security forces on Egyptian borders. The Egyptian military on Monday vowed to take revenge for the 16  Egyptian Borders security guards killed. The suspects infiltrated into Israel after the attack though five were killed by Israeli air units.
