Beirut - Arab Today
Four Lebanese soldiers were wounded on Saturday in clashes with gunmen on the backdrop of the arres of an individual wanted for justice, local media reported. The wanted individual, a member of Chamas family, was arrested at Harmel town, eastern Beqaa. The arrest caused gun battle to erupt between his family and the Lebanese army, during which four soldiers were injured, Lebanese media quoted security reports as saying. Security forces kicked off last Tuesday security plan in Tripoli and seized arms depots and detain wanted suspects, who were involved in security chaos in the area. Last week, the Lebanese cabinet tasked the army and security forces with seizing stockpiled arms and controlling the security situation in Tripoli and the eastern Bekaa Valley in areas bordering Syria.
