Twenty-two Houthi militants were killed and 40 injured in the clashes on Thursday between Yemeni tribal forces and Houthi fighters near Ma'rib city in northeastern Yemen.
The Yemeni tribesmen repelled an attack launched by the Houthis, backed by pro-ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh forces, in Al Gafina district in Ma'rib governorate, local source said.
The two parties are exchanging artillery and mortar fire in Al Jadaan district in the governorate, forcing many Yemeni families to leave their houses and causing severe damage to power transmission lines.
