
Two young men from the same family have been killed during a dispute between cousins in the eastern Iraqi governorate of Wasit. Five other family members were injured when the relatives exchanged gunfire in the district of Badra. Police sources told Arab Today that more than 15 cousins were involved in the quarrel. A local source said that the two men were in their twenties and that initial investigations revealed that the fight about the right to marry their 16-year-old cousin. The governorate of Wasit, with its capital Kut (180 km east of Baghdad) is renowned for being of the safest provinces in Iraq.
