Serbian filmmakers Mila Turajlic and Srdjan Golubovic have won the Grand Awards on Thursday evening of the 4th International Film Festival of Algiers (Fica) dedicated to committed movie. Serbian director was awarded the Grand Award of FICA for fiction category for his film "Circles", a poignant drama with three levels of narration in common with their starting point. In 1993, during the Bosnian war, a soldier, Marko, intervenes to save a tobacconist from certain death, mistreated by other soldiers. The young man will pay this heroic gesture with his life leaving behind a grieving fiancée, friends and inconsolable father. In the same category, the film "No" by Chilean director Pablo Larra has been awarded the Special Jury Prize, chaired by Djamila Sahraoui, while the Public Award, established for this edition, went to Director Licino Azevedo from Mozambique for his work "The virgin of Margarida". In the documentary film category, "Cinema Komunisto" by Serbian director Mila Turajlic was distinguished by the jury chaired by Larbi Benchiha, a work that traces the Yugoslav dream through cinema production in film city of Belgrade. The documentary is now the most popular mode of expression in the committed film had a very rich and difficult competition. The special prize of the documentary jury was attributed to American director Shola Lynch for his film "Free Angela and all the Political Prisoners," while the public vote has distinguished Malik Ait Aoudia for his story ’’The martyr of the seven monks of Tibhirine’’. Given the quality of the works, the jury decided to give a mention named "Filming at all costs" to the documentary "Infiltrators" by Lebanese Khaled Jerar and a mention "resistant film" to Greek Yannis Youlountas for "Let us no longer live like slaves."
