Turkey, which the World Health Organization (WHO) cites to the world as a reference in the struggle against smoking, will explain to 28 countries how to conduct studies on tobacco control within the scope of a project which will include the contributions of the Turkish ministries of health and finance and the Turkish Green Crescent Association. Turkish officials will inform these countries about tobacco control and quitting smoking through polyclinics and a social service hotline, as well as theoretical lessons. Turkey will also provide applied training to the countries which want to establish a service hotline to struggle against smoking. The applications of the WHO's 194 member countries on tobacco control are presented as a report once every two years. The fourth report, which was released in Panama on July 10, 2013, showed Turkey as a reference in the struggle against smoking. Committees have visited Turkey from countries such as Azarbaijan, Albania, Bangladesh, Iran, Kosovo, Hungary, Egypt, Thailand and Ukraine since 2010 so as to observe and apply tobacco control efforts onsite.
