Dubai - Arabstoday

All insurance claims in Dubai will soon be made electronically as the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has launched an electronic portal which will, in the initial phase, capture claims arising from Enaya, a Dubai government health insurance programme. While this immediately reaches out to more than 100,000 government employees who use Enaya, the authority will soon be inviting other insurance players to join in. Making the claims available electronically will minimise insurance fraud, while at the same time, making financial and also technical details available to the authority. "This is a significant step for the health sector in Dubai as online capturing of insurance claims has several benefits. The online system will provide us with data about every singe transaction in the health sector in the emirate. This has several advantages, it gives us an edge to run a successful health insurance system, it ensures minimum fraud and abuse …and also gives us the ability to plan clinical capacity for Dubai based on actual customer behaviour patterns and data… investors will have clear data about the areas of high demand in the health sector in Dubai," said Qadi Saeed Al Murooshid, director-general of the DHA. "By the end of this year, we can expect insurance claims from all the insurance plans in the emirate to be captured electronically," Dr Haidar Al Yousuf, Director of the Health Funding Department at the DHA, told Gulf News. In future, once the mandatory insurance is implemented, e-claims will be the tool for insurance claims. Khalid Al Shaikh Mubarak, Deputy Director-General of the DHA and chairman of the supreme IT committee said: "The implementation of this system will provide the health sector a significant boost because the system will give the DHA a real-time visibility of health spending and facilitate proper long-term planning."
