- The bird flu tended to be under control in Vietnam as there were not any more epidemics reported in recent days, announced the Veterinary Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) here on Monday. According to the department's director Hoang Van Nam, in line with the MARD's instruction, seven working groups were established to go to target localities to check the disease prevention and support the local fight against expansion of the disease. However, the MARD warned localities that although the disease has signs to stop, preventive measures are still strictly implemented, in case of its return. Local authorities have to update the disease progress to the residents and urge them to take care of any symptom that is harmful to human beings. So far, 11 cities and provinces in Vietnam's northern and central regions are facing with bird flu breaks.
