
Health Minister Saad al-Nayef discussed with the United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF) resident representative in Syria, Dr. Yusuf Abdull-Jalil, means of activating cooperation between the two sides in the filed of securing vaccines and their delivery to all children around Syria.
Al-Nayef said that the Ministry has achieved positive results in the several vaccination campaigns against polio carried out since late last year in terms of the high coverage, adding that the Ministry continues its routine vaccination program thanks to local efforts and cooperation by the international organizations and NGOs.
The Minister called for further support by the UNICEF in the field of vaccine handling and storage, particularly cooling.
For his part, Dr. Abdull-Jalil affirmed the UNCIEF keenness to support the health sector in Syria, particularly in the filed of securing the needed vaccines.
He pointed out that the UNICEF, in cooperation with the Health Ministry and the World Health Organization, has delivered polio vaccines to 3 million children.
