The Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD) announced Monday the death of a woman diagnosed with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV). In a press statement, the HAAD stated that the demised woman, her husband and boy, Jordanian residents, were confirmed to have the disease last November. It added that the health condition of the husband and son is currently stable and they are receiving the required care. The coronavirus, which can cause coughing, fever and pneumonia, has been reported in people in the Gulf, France, Germany, Italy, Tunisia and Britain. Scientists say they believe dromedary camels in the Middle East may be the animal "reservoir" which is fuelling the outbreak.
