Turkish Minister of Health Mehmet Muezzinoglu had bilateral meetings with the health ministers of several countries who attended the 66th World Health Assembly. Muezzinoglu attended the 66th World Health Assembly in Geneva and had bilateral meetings with the health ministers of Djibouti, Chad, Afghanistan, Somalia, and Maldives. Health Minister of Djibouti Kassim Issack Osman said they wanted to increase the number of doctors and medical personnel from Djibouti having training in Turkey. Stating that Turkey would gladly support Djibouti in health control and services, Muezzinoglu invited the Djiboutian minister to Turkey. Chadian Health Minister Ahmad Jeddah Muhammad said they were aware of Turkey's power in the world adding they wanted to take advantage of the country's experiences in health. "We would like to renew our relations with Turkey," said Jeddah Muhammad "with regard to the relations with Ottoman Empire in the past." Emphasising Turkey's embassy in Chad would contribute to the relations positively, Muezzinoglu said Turkey would be happy to support Chad in health education. Suraya Dalil, Health Minister of Afghanistan, said they want to increase the number of students getting educated in Turkish universities adding they also waited for Turkish private firms to invest for long terms in their country. Muezzinoglu pointed out Turkey would keep on supporting the security and stability of Afghanistan adding "It is our duty to transfer the relations in the past between Turkey and Afghanistan to the future." During the bilateral meeting with Maldives Health Minister Ahmed Jamsheed Mohamed, the two ministers talked about a project of sister hospitals in two countries. Expressing their sorrow over the deaths in Turkish town Reyhanli, Somalian Minister of Health Maryam Qasim said, many Somali people survived thanks to the leadership of Turkey and the humanitarian aids sent for the needy. Muezzinoglu invited all the ministers to the international conference on universal health insurance in Istanbul on June 27-28, asking for their support in the process of EXPO 2020, for which The United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Russia, Thailand and Turkey have all officially bid to host the World Expo 2020.
