Tight anti-bird flu measures in Aswan

Precautionary veterinary measures were taken in Aswan after a child was reported dead Wednesday from bird flu or H5N1 virus.
A vet team was assigned to take random samples from places selling or handling live poultry to verify their safety, said director of veterinary medicine in Aswan Gamal Osman.
The team had detained a peddler for selling live ducks in the same village where the child, the first H5N1 death this year in Aswan, was reported, Osman said.
