Nicosia - ANSA

Good clinical practices will be the focus of a meeting between the fourteen partners of the research programme DEEP "DEferiprone Evaluation in Paediatrics" to take place between May 17-18, in Nicosia as CNA reported. The DEEP project which is financed by the European Commission has been developed with the specific intent to integrate the existing information on deferiprone use in children 2-10 years old, thus covering the lack of knowledge and providing a valid support to the use of the drug in children of all ages. The aim of this application is to provide data on pharmacokinetics, efficacy and safety of deferiprone in 2-10 years old children in order to produce an approved Paediatric Investigational Plan to be used for regulatory purposes. Italy with Consorzio per le Valutazioni Biologiche e Farmacologiche (CVBF) heads the four year project with participants from 14 European and third countries including Italy, Greece, Cyprus and Egypt. Cyprus is represented by the Medical Services and Public Health Services of the Ministry of Health.
