Date of the national polio vaccination campaign has been postponed due to the bad weather conditions expected for this week.
A statement by the Ministry of Health said the campaign, which had been initially scheduled to start tomorrow and last until November 27, has been put off as the weather conditions may not allow its success in terms of accessing every targeted child.
The campaign targets all children under five across the provinces.
The previous polio immunization campaign, the ninth to be conducted nationwide, managed to reach 2. 600 million over five days starting off October 19, according to a statement issued by the Ministry last month.
Hama province, in central Syria, was ranked first in terms of coverage, while the northeastern province of Raqqa marked a considerable increase in coverage rate.
Vaccines were given to children at the health centers and makeshift residential centers hosting displaced families.
