Geneva - UPI

Swiss voters have decided against a measure that would have banned smoking at virtually all indoor work places, near final results showed. Swissinfo.ch reported Sunday that with results still out in several areas the proposed ban sought by the Lung League was headed for defeat. Anti-smoking forces had sought to ban smoking sections to protect wait staff at restaurants, cafes and bars from second-hand smoke, the news website said. The measure was opposed by business interests, along with centrist and right-wing political parties, as well as the Swiss government.
