Shelling from Syria hits health facility in neighboring Turkey

Shelling near Syria's border flew into Turkey and hit a health facility in Hatay province in southern Turkey on Tuesday, local Daily News reported, saying that no casualties have been reported so far. An anti-aircraft shell fired from Syrian territory hit a health center in Hatay, according to the report. It remains unknown if the shell was fired by the Syrian army or the opposition forces. Meanwhile, the Turkish Armed Forces performed a military drill Thursday in a border area close to the Syrian town of Kobani, local newspaper Today's Zaman reported Friday. Tanks and armored military vehicles participated in the drill, which showed the military's preparedness to respond to any threat against the country, the report said. The Turkish Armed Forces' Chief of General Staff Necdet Ozel told reporters last week during his visit to the border town of Akcakale that Turkey had warned of stronger retaliation if Syria continues shelling on the Turkish soil.
