Sharjah Health Authority (SHA), established to transform and enhance the regional healthcare service industry, visited during its participation at the UAE-Korea Economic Partnership Forum 2013 Seoul as part of the Sharjah Delegation, renowned healthcare institutions in Seoul, South Korea. The Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority, Abdulla Al Mahyan, met with high ranked officials at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Seoul National University hospital and a number of private investors. SHA's visits come as part of the efforts exerted to fulfill its mandate in turning Sharjah into the most sought after healthcare destination in the region by boosting the bilateral relations in healthcare between SHA and those of Korea. Al Mahyan said: "We seek to offer prospective Korean investors an excellent investment opportunity in the field of healthcare and related fields under convenient free zone rules and regulations through single window service system. South Korea is not only a vibrant economy but also a strategic partner for the UAE in vital sectors, and our goal is to highlight the numerous healthcare investment opportunities available to South Korean investors in the upcoming Sharjah Healthcare City." At the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Park In-Seok, Director General of Health Industry Policy, received Al Mahyan. The agenda of the meeting included discussing initiatives that may lead to memoranda of understanding between Sharjah Health Authority and the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Fields of cooperation will comprise knowledge/ technology transfer and share, export of patients, medical insurance methods amongst other related healthcare issues. Al Mahyan introduced to Park In-Seok and its officials investment schemes on the upcoming Sharjah Healthcare City that operates as a Free Zone, enabling investors to enjoy 100% ownership of their entity, zero tax and duties, 100% reparability of their capital and profit, single-window service, hassle free licensing and world class infrastructure. "Healthcare City occupies an area of 240 hectares at the crossroads of the National highway and Al Dhaid road", Al Mahyan added. Later, Al Mahyan visited Seoul National University Hospital, which is ranked as the largest government hospital of Korea and comprises five hospitals. Professor Han Kwang-Yang, Director of Department of Surgery, welcomed Al Mahyan and introduced to the history, modern technologies implemented and modern treatment methods of the hospital followed by touring the hospital's premises and viewed hi-tech facilities offered at the hospital's gastric center. Professor Han Kwang-Yang extended on behalf of Seoul National University Hospital all its support to Sharjah Health Authority and thanked HE Al Mahyan for his visit.
