
Directorate of Public Works of Sharjah has commenced construction works of a new nursery in Mulaiha area to provide convenient attractive educational environment for children. The AED 7.7 million project is in consistence with the sound farsighted directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to provide a world-class educational environment and to meet the requirements of new schools and nurseries at all different areas of Sharjah. Eng. Helal Al Sahi, Manager of Building Projects Department at DPW, stated that, "The new nursery covers 2.330 m2 and will accommodate 160 children" "The project is expected to be completed by the first middle of next year." Al Sahi said, "DPW is keen on providing newly-constructed nurseries with art-of-work equipments to meet necessary health conditions required in such projects to ensure safe educational environment for children. The nursery will include a two-room clinic to secure comprehensive health care." He added, "The nursery will be designed considering a special architectural style to attract children, with outdoor open spaces for play, in addition to a library, activities hall, science and IT lab and many other facilities. The special requirements of handicapped children are also considered and met including special sloping entrances, especially-equipped restrooms and rubber flooring to ensure children's safety. DPW coordinates with Road and Transport Authority of Sharjah to provide the nursery with safe bus stops and separate ample parks for visitors inside the nursery to meet traffic safety requirements."
