Turkish aid organization, Turk Kizilayi (Red Crescent), built a community center and great number of houses for residents of Aceh after the devastating earthquake in this Indonesian province in 2004. The people can use community center for free. Psychological counseling service is given to help earthquake victims regain self-confidence at the community center. Recently, English language teaching courses are also available. Authorities said that many of Indonesians who finished the courses went to Japan and Australia. An official with the community center told AA correspondent that Turkish Red Crescent built 1,050 houses and constructed "Sultan Selim II Community Center" as a symbol of his services to Aceh Reign in the 16th century. Aceh residents are grateful to Turkish Red Crescent for its relief works. Semsettin Abi, an Indonesian residing at one of Turkish Red Crescent's houses, said, "we are thankful for construction of these housing units. Those times were very hard. Nobody could rebuild the area but Turkish Red Crescent. We pray for Turkish Red Crescent and it's donators." (Reporting by Recep Sakar)
