Rare surgical operation performed by BDF Hospital medical team

A BDF Hospital medical team a very rare and the first-of-its-kind-in-the-world operation for rectification of severe 45-degree backbone curvature for a 17-year-old Bahraini woman, harnessing the latest medical techniques available at the BDF Royal Medical Services (BDF-RMS). The commander of the BDF-RMS, Major-General Professor Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa revealed during a press conference in the Military Hospital this morning that (citi-scan) system introduced in the hospital last month was harnessed in the procedure using both endoscopy and navigation techniques. The operation was performed by Neurologist-Orthopedics Specialist Major Dr. Khalid K. M.Al-Kawari. According to Dr. Khalid the operation costs USD 200,000 in the USA and 80,00 Euros in Europe. This operation costs only BD 2,500 however it is provided free of charge to Bahraini citizens. Noor Bu Cheeri expressed her greatest delight upon healing and returning to her normal life after undergoing the successful operation, and her gratitude and appreciation to the BDF Hospital's management and medical staff who performed the operation. During the press conference she hailed the Kingdom of Bahrain's wise leadership who have provided all Bahraini hospitals with latest state-of-the-art medical equipment to ameloriate citizens' livelihood and alleviate the onus of receiving medical treatment abroad.
