
The population residing within the geographical boundaries of Qatar was down to 2.151 million in June compared to 2.174 million in May, according to data released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.
June 2014 recorded 354 marriage contracts and 143 divorces while the month of May recorded 265 marriages and 83 divorces.
In June, 1,833 babies were born compared to 1,927 in the month of May while the number of deaths dropped to 183 in June from 199 in May.
According to the ministry’s bulletin, the number of deaths due to traffic accidents dropped to 16 in June from 19 cases in May. There were 62 serious accidents and 593 cases of minor accidents.
Khalifa City recorded the highest number of 6,915 accidents while the North Security Department registered nine deaths caused by accidents, which was the most.
Average Qatari household expenditure for goods and services was QR 8,000 per month while the averages expenses of non-Qatari families was QR 2,711 approximately.
Food expenses topped the table comprising 16.2% of the monthly spend for Qatari families and for non-Qatari families it was up to 34.2%.
Consumer price index for June was 117.7 points, a marginal decrease by 0.1% over May’s figure of 117.8 points.
Total cash deposits in commercial banks for the month of June was QR 591 billion, up by 1% over QR 585 billion registered in the month of May 2014.
