Over 18,000 Ukrainian refugees, who are currently in Russia’s territory, have asked for medical assistance, Russia’s Healthcare Ministry said.
“In total, 18,506 people, including 6,916 children and 877 pregnant women, have asked for medical assistance. At present, 1,974 people, 956 children and 198 pregnant women are in hospital,” the ministry said on Friday.
“Despite the huge movement of citizens from Ukraine, Russian regions are taking measures to provide medical assistance timely and qualitatively. Special attention was paid to the sanitary and epidemiological situation in each region,” said Oxana Guseva, head of the department for urgent medical assistance.
Medical assistance is rendered to everyone irrespective their legal status, she said.
The Russian Healthcare Ministry jointly with the Federal Migration Service has worked out a draft resolution for simplifying medical examination of those who arrive from Ukraine and ask for refugee status.
