McDonald's restaurants in China were exposed selling expired food, which fails to follow food processing instructions, according to an evening party of China Central Television (CCTV) for marking the World Consumer Right Day on March 15. It is said that McDonald's sells cooked meat which is beyond the holding time. Cooked meat in McDonald's restaurant is supposed to be discarded if it surpasses the holding time. But the McDonald's restaurant failed to comply with the rule. According to McDonald's regulation, fried chicken wings should be conserved within 30 minutes, but it is found that they were still for sale after expired for an hour and a half, three times of its storage period. Cheeses which were going bad were still used for making cheeseburgers in McDonald's. Workers were also found modify desserts’ expiry time or even re-pack them for selling again. Worse still, the dropped cutlets were directly pick up for use again. An employee of a McDonald's restaurant in Sanlitun, Beijing’s downtown, said that these are usual practices for McDonald's restaurants in China to sell expired food rather than follow the working instructions.
