Next Sunday thousands of women will run, jog or walk 5km around Thornes Park to help fight cancer. And there is still time to register to take part in the 2012 Cancer Research UK Race For Life. So far 1,687 people have signed up to do their bit to help raise money for the charity. Philippa Sharpe, event manager, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that so many women have entered Race for Life in Wakefield. “Together, they will help us create a fantastic atmosphere on the day and raise crucial funds to help beat cancer. “But we don’t want anyone to miss out. We still have places left for the Wakefield event but we are reminding women who want to take part at this venue that they must enter as soon as possible, before registration closes. This year the race will be started by singing star Jane McDonald and there will be entertainment from the Wildcat Dolls. The charity is encouraging people to fill donation bags with clothes, books and accessories that could raise up to £30.
