Lansley defends health reforms

Andrew Lansley today admits the overhaul of his flagship NHS reforms has been "difficult" as he prepares to make 150 amendments to plans to scrap primary care trusts in England. Writing in The IoS, the Health Secretary says the decision to "pause" his Health and Social Care Bill caused "uncertainty" among NHS staff. Scotching rumours he will resign, he says he is "determined to see the plans through". In an IoS poll, almost half of people think the Lib Dems deserve credit for the rethink, and a third think the NHS would be safer under Labour. On Tuesday MPs vote to send the Bill back to committee stage for further scrutiny. From / The Independent
