
The State of Kuwait is set to take part in a World Health Organization (WHO) meeting due in the Omani capital, Muscat on Sunday, with a delegation to be led by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of Health Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. The agenda of the 60th session of the Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean includes main health issues such as initiatives for combatting tobacco, smoking, poliomyelitis, environment health, maternity and childhood, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health said in a release. It also involves subjects like the achievement of the health-related Millennium Development Goals and global health goals after 2015, international health regulations, emergencies and the impact of the Syrian crisis on health systems in the neighboring countries, it said. Several reports and working papers on health topics and exchange of experience among regional experts and senior officials are to be on the agenda of the regional WHO meeting in Muscat, the ministry added. Furthermore, Kuwait Award for cancer, heart diseases and diabetes control efforts in the Middle East region will be considered during the event.
