Kuwait grants donation to Mexican medical foundation

The State of Kuwait has granted USD 150,000 to the Mexican medical John Langdon Down Foundation which aid children with the Down Syndrome (DS), the ambassador here announced. Sameeh Johar Hayat, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Mexico, said the donation was given during a major ceremony, held by the foundation, themed, "a gift from children of Kuwait to their friends, the children of Mexico." In a statement, addressed to KUNA's office in New York, late on Monday, the ambassador said the donation depicted keenness of the Kuwaiti supreme leaders for backing humanitarian ventures worldwide, namely DS children. Moreover, the tangible overture signals the high level of distinctive ties bonding Kuwait and Mexico. Meanwhile, spouse of the Mexican Foreign Relations Secretary, Juana Cuevas de Meade, the foundation honorary chairperson, expressed gratitude for Kuwait which has always supported international humanitarian causes. She also conveyed such sentiments on part of the president and the people for this gesture that would alleviate suffering of many families. Sylvia Escamilla, the foundation chairperson, asked the ambassador to relay gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for the generous gesture. The John Langdon Down Foundation was established in Mexico on April 3, 1972.
