
In implementation of the directives ofthe Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, themedical team headed by the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabiahhas held several meetings and carried out medical examinations on Iraqi twins Chrisand Christian to be reassured about their health and the possibility of separatingthem.Dr. Al-Rabiah pointed out that the results have shown that the twins are conjoineddown the chest and abdomen, as well as their participation in the liver, stressingthat the medical team decided to conduct the separation surgery on Thursday, April10th, 2014 , corresponding to 10 Jumada II 1435 AH at King Abdulaziz Medical Cityof the National Guard in Riyadh.He indicated that it is expected that the separating surgery takes approximately 7hours and the medical team comprises 23 participants.It is worth mentioning that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has succeeded inseparating (31) Siamese twins since 1990 with a success rate of up to 80%.
